Mensajeros de Alma” (Soul Messengers) is a community altar that honors our loved ones and the messages they send such as the reminders of hope, faith, and connection to our roots. Monarch butterflies symbolize migration and transformation, reflecting our community’s journey. At the heart of the altar is Alma, the hummingbird spirit guiding us to reconnect with our ancestors and remember that love always finds its way home.

In Honor of Our Loved Ones

Meet Alma: The Colibrí

She is the bridge between worlds, a messenger of faith, and my connection to my ancestors. Through her, I feel the guidance of my grandfather, whose sacrifices and artistry opened the path that allow me to live my dream as an artist today.

Hand-painted in enamel and paper maché, Alma came to life layer by layer. Each stroke was an act of remembrance, a prayer of gratitude, and a promise to keep creating from the heart.

She is a reminder that when we feel lost or disconnected, we can always return to our roots, to our faith, our lineage, and the wisdom that reminds us we are never alone on this journey.

The Sign

The Mensajeros de Alma sign was hand-painted as a reflection of my roots and family legacy in sign painting. Each letter carries intention — a tribute to my grandfather and the generations of artisans who came before me. Through this piece, I honor the craft that shaped my journey and the messages that continue to guide me.

Behind the Scenes

Every brushstroke, garland, and butterfly was placed with intention. This altar came to life through many hands, late nights, and shared moments. This is a true labor of love.
